Charter Standard

Teams can now renew their Charter Standard for 2019-2020, it is pleasing to note that already a number of teams have completed

For the new clubs you need to start and put this in to place, if you, new clubs need to have this completed by the end of the year otherwise they may not be allowed to continue within the League.  Also thanks to those other clubs who attended to bolster their team’s first aiders.  It is no excuse for Teams to fail their health check because they do not have a first aider when the league runs a course every year.

First Aid Course was held on Wednesday 23 October 2019 here at Elm Tree Social Club, eight clubs attended of these two were new clubs this season.  Teams should now get there Health Check signed off, as there are 10 footballs on offer plus a £100 voucher to spend.

Postponement requests from teams

Secretaries Report

First point I must make is regarding the fixtures, please check the website regular for changes especially this time of year and with County Cups etc taking priority and with a number of postponements fixtures have been changed on a regular basis.  I do try and email teams when changes are made or I may just send a general email advising to check website for changes.

A further reminder to teams that they need to complete their player registration on the Whole Game System, this is compulsorily from next season so if you get set up now (most DFA clubs should be) it will things much easier for next season.  If you need any help then for DFA teams contact Kerry Topping and for NRCFA teams contact Donna Crowther.

Jes Lambert and I attended a meeting at DFA on the 15 October 2019 for leagues within the County FA and discussed a number of topics.  These included Charter Standard, Whole Game System Player Registration, Facilities, Online Discipline and also discussed the decline in Adult teams plus a large part of the evening taken up with Refereeing.

I also attended a meeting at the Stadium of Light on Friday 8 November 2019 which was all about “Tackling Homophobia in North East Football 2019” and was organised by DFA in conjunction with Durham Pride UK and the North East Rainbow Alliance.  This saw involvement from Durham Police, Police & Crime Commission for Cleveland and various other groups from around the county.

The Player Registration in WGS is compulsory from the start of 2021/22 season; I have been on to teams to get this done prior to this date to make things much easier before it becomes compulsory.  We as a league can set up a training session for Clubs if this is required, DFA are willing to come and help teams that require it.

I have purchased some captains arm bands and if any team requires one they are available at a cost of £2 each. (Cheaper than the fine for not having one).

Whilst on about fines, a number of teams are getting lax in paying them on time, in over 25% of cases I have to send out an email advising it is overdue and that normally works but should not have to do this, please ensure fines are paid on time.

The fixtures for 1st December are on the website and issued tonight, the rest will be released tomorrow and the fixtures for January will be added to the website sometime in December.

Team of the Month – August / September 2019 Village Park Rangers (Division 1) 6 league wins plus 1 Ian Gorman cup win, 32 F and 8A, did have 1 caution during September.

October 2019 Queen Vic (Division 2) 2 league wins and 1 Luke Jobson cup win, scored 21 conceded 1, no cautions, one no captains arm band was the only penalty points.

Referees:     This season has seen us short a couple of times and games have had to be played without a qualified referee, Jes does his utmost to get the games covered.

 Any Other Business

The League Secretary advised members of the details for the funeral of referee Ted Popple, the League Secretary also expressed his thanks to the off duty paramedic (Arron Mallinson of Queen Vic) who attended to Ted at the pitch side, Tim Smith DFA observer and member of Stockton RA, Ryan Loughran (AFC Acklam) who ran to North Shore for the defibrillator and also Martyn Williams (Yarm & Eaglescliffe) for keeping myself updated throughout.  I would also like to thank the referee Ashley Taylor who was also helpful.

Date of the next League Meeting is a General Meeting on Wednesday 22 January 2020.
