Rosegale entertained Sunderland Hylton Castle Seniors in the third and final preliminary round of the Durham Sunday Cup looking to progress to the first round proper. The opening twenty minutes saw some good football played by both teams but both defences stood firm. The first real chance saw David Baker crack a 25 yard free kick onto the bar butt he rebound was cleared. The game swung from end to end and on 32 minutes a rasping shot from 22 yards by a Hylton Castle player grazed the top of the bar. Rosegale were caught out five minutes before the break when a long ball over the top was not dealt with and a forward nipped in to score the opening goal. Rosegale lost David Baker to injury just before the break and that was how the score remained up to half time. Rosegale started the second half brightly and were soon level when two minutes into the half Billy Gatenby robbed a defender advanced on goal then played in Danny Earl who scored from a tight angle. In the 53rd minute Stuart Newbold in the Rosegale goal pulled off a full length finger tip save to prevent them going behind. Minutes later and Shaun Hunnam played the ball down the right for Gatenby and his cross across goal was picked up by Earl who laid the ball back to Stewart Bath who volleyed home the second goal. After this Rosegale dominated the game but squandered a number of chances to put the game beyond the visitors but failed to take these. Rosegale started to play some neat and precise passing football that was good on the eye all that was missing was the goals. However two goals from Mark Lilley in the final five minutes gave the scorelline a more realistic look. The first saw Danny Earl break down the left and pulled the ball back for Lilley to slot home then on 90 minutes Earl broke down the right wing and cut inside then pulled the ball back for Lilley to tap home, the referee the blew for full time and a much deserved victory for Rosegale and a place in the first round proper of the Durham Sunday Cup.

It was top playing bottom and with it being the only game in the first division it was a great chance for the Sheraton to go four points clear, a win for Unicorn would take them off the bottom it was a big game for both teams, The Sheraton were without Marc Parry and Martin Slater who both had to good a time on Saturday night and couldn't make it, giving David Charnock and Carl Thompson a chance to get back in the team. The Sheraton were there nice and early and ready to go, starting well with their back line in control and comfortable, everything was a little rushed and nerves in midfield the ball was going forward a little too quick which was leaving Ash Hauxwell and Bri Cole isolated up front both had one on ones but couldn't find the target. Norton Unicorn had one chance all half Philip Dalby made a great run down the left to the bye line then ran towards goal under a tackle by Craig Allan he somehow picked out a Unicorn player who missed an open goal from six yards. The Sheraton were putting a lot of pressure on the Unicorn back four and had a number of corners but couldn't find the back of the net. The Sheraton had a great number of chances and were starting to think it just wasn't going to be their day. It took the Sheraton until injury time in the first half to break the dead lock it came from a Craig Allan corner which Ash Hauxwell headed home. Half time and the Sheraton were not happy with the number of chances they had missed but were over the moon with Unicorn only having one chance all half, the Sheraton wanted to up it in the second half and show Unicorn how good they can be. The Sheraton started well again and Lee Helliwell and Johnny Cooper were in good form in the centre of the field and the back four were more than comfortable and both forwards were still getting chances it was just looking like a matter of time before they started to go in, but in football if you don't take your chances you can be made to pay and a free kick which was crossed into the box then tapped past the out coming keeper by Scott Britton for 1-1. This brought Ash Hauxwell to life, he got on the end of a long ball took it to the bye line ran in towards goal past three defenders and blasted it in, Lee Helliwell was there to make sure, Johnny Cooper was then cut down and injured in the box Ash Hauxwell sent the keeper the wrong way making it 3-1 . The Sheraton made three changes bringing on Paul Ayre, Matty Holbrook and Mark Robinson all with a point to prove and all three need a lot more work with all three having chances to get their name on the team sheet but falling a little short Matty Holbrook hit a cross shot which Ash Hauxwell slid in to make it 4-1 but the score line doesn't show how one sided the game really was.
In Division Two Stockton West End maintained their 100% record in the league with a 3-0 win away to the Stockton Arms. West End started brightly with some good midfield football but they could not break down the Arms rearguard so did not trouble the goalie until the 15 minute when he fumbled at shot from Carl Gibbons to allow Graham Mulgrew to head in to make it 1-0. The game then turned sloppy with neither side been able to put a decent pass together and this is how it stayed until half time. In the second half West End began how they started the first half but they still were not able to find a second goal. The Arms made a couple of subs which allowed them to start play some good football but missing two one on one chances. Then in the 70th minute West End were awarded a free kick just outside the box that Mattie Martian drilled home. Then in the last minute Carl Gibbons made it 3 0 to wrap the points up for Stockton West End.
